Past Endeavours ... (need to fix links on this page since changing servers)

TuxMathScrabble (2000)
TuxMathScrabble...a long time ago.
LaTeX Flash Card System
This application has been superceded by:Research Master
Wrote this while studying for some big exams. It is C++/Motif and interfaces with LaTeX and Ghostview through commands to the shell. (Linux only).
Mathasaurus (2004)
Early Mathasaurus design. The vegetation scrolls by and there are animated dinosaurs at various depths in the sceen. Also moving foliage objects. The effect was meant to be literally a window into another world. There was a lot of 3D dinosaur work done for this project which never really got used, but has great potential for a possible future effort. Development of this application led to the common framework currently used by TuxMathScrabble, TuxWordSmith, ResearchMaster and Asymptopia Vocabulary Tool.
Mathasaurus (2004)
A subsequent version of Mathasaurus after a major overhaul. Click here to see an animated gif prototype with lots of custom animation. The multiple independent depth layers were inspired by a documentary about the making of Walt Disney's Bambi.
Math Aquarium (2004)
An aquarium theme running on top of the Mathasaurus Framework
Math Safari (2004)
A safari theme running on top of the Mathasaurus Framework
(the possibilities are endless...)
Mathasaurus Dinosaur
One of several dinosaur characters for use in Mathasaurus.
Webalyzer (1999-2003)
Tails your logfile over the network and let's you visualize world-wide traffic and transactions on your website.
Vocabulary Tool (2006)
This effort was eclipsed by TuxWordSmith. The application is significantly different than TuxWordSmith, however. In this case, the admin has access to numerous reference materials (dictionaries of sayings, words, jargon, etc) and can create a variety of assignment types through a simple interface. It also interfaces with the Festival voice synthesizer (The on used by Prof. Stephen Hawking). The admin interface of this project was used off-the-shelf by TuxWordSmith.
BlackJack! (2000-2002)
Although this application needs a graphics overhaul, it is a good blackjack engine design, IMHO. Originally written in Java, it was ported to Python/PyGame in 2001. It would benefit from the common framework used by more recent Asymptopia applications.
Math Volcano (2000-2005)
A pre-cursor to Multiplication Station. This is JavaScript application that uses cookies to remember what your assignments are, etc. The original plan was to have the volcano erupt with smoke, lava and rocks upon completion of the 12x12 table. But before it was finished Multiplication Station took its place. Try it here
